Steam - Turn every meal into an occasion

Steam ovens can cook much more than just vegetables. In fact, steam ovens have been a secret weapon in top restaurants for decades. The extra moisture improves flavour and texture while preserving crispiness – turning every meal into an occasion.

Just add steam

Our steam ovens are regular ovens with the option of adding steam. Steam works in harmony with traditional heat to enhance flavours and textures when using the low, medium and high settings. The full steam option uses only steam to cook ingredients like fish and vegetables gently.

Preserve colour, flavour and nutrients

Cooking with steam produces visible results, ingredients retain their vibrant colours after being cooked. It also preserves the nutrients and vitamins better than other methods of cooking.

How to cook with steam

It’s easy to start cooking with steam. Simply fill the water container, select the appropriate steam programme and let the oven do the work for you.

Filling water

Use only cold tap water.

1. Press the cover of the water drawer to open it
2. Fill it to the maximum level (around 950 ml)

5. Cook your food and remember to empty the remaining water in the drawer once you are done and have turned the oven off

The secret of top chefs

SousVide literally means “under vacuum” in French - it is a cooking process where ingredients are placed in a vacuum sealed bag and then cooked using steam or a water bath. Top chefs have been using this technique for decades. It is the secret to achieving restaurant quality food at home.

It’s in the bag

The vacuum sealed bags slow oxidation, preserving flavour. Ingredients will be loaded with flavor from being cooked in a humid, self-braising environment. The temperature is constantly maintained within a half-degree range. This precision gives you mouthwatering flavour and results you can recreate time after time. You can buy SousVide bags directly from Electrolux.

Perfect results - every time

No more overcooking. With the SousVide technique it is almost impossible to overcook an ingredient. Using the vacuum sealed bags and steam you have precise control over the temperature at which your food is cooked, meaning it will never be too dry – even if you prefer it well done!

How to cook using SousVide

SousVide may sound like an advanced technique but your CombiSteam Pro oven makes it easy to achieve results that are impossible in a normal oven.

Vacuum sealing

The key in cooking SousVide is achieving a good vacuum seal with your bags. Vacuum bags and a vacuum sealer can be bought directly from Electrolux or a third party. Make sure to select a bag size that matches the amount of ingredients that your wish to cook. Ensure that the seal is tight before putting the bag in your oven.

The SousVide setting

Use the SousVide setting on your CombiSteam Pro Smart oven when cooking with this technique. The water drawer must be filled with water - just like when cooking with steam. The SousVide setting is for cooking meat, fish, seafood, vegetables and fruit at a low temperature. Once the food has been cooked it usually needs to be finished by briskly browning it in a pan.

Try this delicious beef fillet recipe with your new CombiSteam Pro Smart oven. You will this recipe, and many more, in the My Electrolux Kitchen app and you can send it straight to the oven for automatic settings.
