Issue
- Tumble dryer blows fuses / trips RCD circuit breaker
Applies to
- Tumble dryer
Resolution
Your tumble dryer causing a fuse to blow or an RDC to trip suggests there is either an issue with the power socket or the appliance itself.
Firstly, we would recommend checking that the appliance is connected correctly.
- Ensure that a washing machine and a tumble dryer are not connected on the same fuse circuit. The power used by both the washing machine and tumble dryer would exceed 13 amps.
- We recommend not to use an extension cable to connect the appliance as this may cause a short-circuit.
- Check the appliance in another plug socket to see if it works correctly. If it does it may be an issue with the initial plug socket, and you may need to contact an electrician.
If all of these have been checked and the appliance is still causing a short circuit we would recommend you organise a technician visit an authorised service centre.
